Privacy policy

This policy explains how tocolabs handles information in FrameStem, the iPad screen recording app, and on the FrameStem pages of this website.

Recording and project data

When you start a recording, FrameStem processes the screen video and any audio sources that iPadOS makes available, which may include app sound, microphone audio and supported USB inputs. Recordings can contain personal or sensitive information visible or audible during capture. FrameStem uses this content to create, play, edit and export your project. Optional transcription of supported audio is performed on your device.

Your recordings, source files, transcripts and edit decisions are kept in the app's local project storage. FrameStem does not upload this content to tocolabs servers. Capture depends on the permissions and sources made available by iPadOS and the app being recorded.

Sharing and exports

FrameStem exports a video, separate source files or a project archive only when you choose to export them. The destination you select, such as a folder or another app, may handle those files under its own privacy policy. Check a recording before sharing it, particularly if it includes other people's voices or information.

Data retention and deletion

Projects remain on your device until you remove them or delete the app and its data. Exported copies remain wherever you saved or shared them and must be removed there separately. Device backups may include app data depending on your Apple settings; you can manage those backups through Apple. tocolabs cannot access or delete local projects, exports or device backups for you.

App analytics and advertising

FrameStem does not use recording content for advertising or sell it. The app does not send recordings or transcripts to tocolabs for analytics.

Support messages

If you email us for support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use it to answer your request and handle related follow-up. Our email provider processes and stores the correspondence. Please avoid sending recordings or sensitive content unless needed for your request. You can ask us to delete support correspondence using the contact address below, subject to any applicable legal obligations.

Website analytics

The FrameStem website pages use Google Analytics to understand visits and improve the site. This is separate from the FrameStem app and does not include recording or project content. When analytics loads, your browser may send information such as the page URL and IP address to Google, which may use cookies. See Google's explanation of how it uses information from sites that use its services.

Your choices and rights

You control when to record, whether to use available audio sources and transcription, and where to export files. You can delete local projects and exported files as described above. Where applicable, you may ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold through support correspondence, or object to or restrict its use. Contact us to make a request. You can also complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office or your local data protection authority.
